Between 2010 and December 2015, as a Regional Programme Officer for North Africa and the Middle East region (MENA) within the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), the first global intergovernmental organisation dedicated to all renewables, Dr. Taoumi managed several projects and initiatives across MENA region including the Renewables Readiness Assessment (RRA), assessment of local manufacturing potential in the Arab region and the Pan Arab Clean Energy initiative (PACE). As a Clean Energy Technology Key Expert within the EU GCC Clean Energy Technology Network (an EU funder initiative) since January 2016, Dr. Taoumi managed and coordinated high level events, conferences and training workshops in the field of clean energy technologies. He coordinated the work-programme for the working areas: (i) Renewables Energy (ii) Energy Efficiency (iii) Interconnections and Electricity Market Integration (iv) Carbon Capture and Storage (v) Clean fuels and (vi) climate change as a cross cutting topic. Among other positions, Dr. Taoumi is an active member on several organisations, conferences and networks around the world including the MENAREC Conference International Steering Committee. Dr. Dekkiche graduated from the Mackintosh School of architecture, university of Glasgow with a Master Degree in Architecture in 1986 and a Ph.D. in 1990 Dr. Dekkiche has been a practicing architect since 1983 with experience in Algeria, UK, and the U.S.A. He taught at two distinguished universities in Algeria in the field of urban design and architecture. Playing a lead role in establishing a postgraduate department, his assignments included being a member of the course board developing curricula and research programs while being a chair of the scientific council of the department of architecture.
